Join Our Team: Seeking Skilled Noninvasive Cardiologist for Innovative Heart Care in Western Colorado

Due to our rapid growth in the community, we are searching for a Board-Certified or Board Eligible Noninvasive Cardiologist to join our established team at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Our culture is collaboration, not competition! It is our commitment to provide high quality heart care in the Western Colorado area utilizing our innovative facilities, comprehensive cardiac services, research opportunities and making a positive impact on our community.

This need is for a general cardiologist to join the group to help take care of the backlog of patients. Physicians that have an entrepreneurial mindset and are willing to help out as needed will be a great fit here as we continue to grow the cardiology service line. The advanced imaging area is well-covered, but there is a great need for a physician with Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology skills. Nuclear and TEE skills are another growth area, as long as that physician still sees general cardiology patients.

Given that about 70% of our patients are 60 or older, we have a fair amount of heart failure, pacemakers and A-fib ablations with close to 25% of our PCI volume being acute. The pulmonary hypertension market is virtually untapped. Annually, we are averaging 500 PCI’s, 1000+ Caths, and 500+ TEE’s and Cardioversions. Our Interventional Cardiologists and EPs are doing too much general and not enough procedures. Right now, our proceduralists take a full day of covering the hospital, which keeps them out of the Cath lab and EP lab. They round on 15 existing patients a day and 4-5 new patients a day. Our 2 hospital-based NPs help with education and discharge planning, and rounding on the less acute, so our cardiologists can see the new or more complicated patients. Upon arrival of our new general cardiologist, we plan on having our proceduralists give up the general cardiology to focus more on procedures.
