Position Overview

Gynecology Overview

This position is going to be 100% Surgical Gynecology with optional Uro-Gyn. Many of these patients have level 3 or 4 Endometriosis – it makes 70% of their case mix. The incoming provider will not be expected to know how to use the laser, but Dr. Kaldas can mentor and teach you over time. There is ZERO OB required. If you would like to take OB call to keep up on your skillset, it’s allowed, but not required. The Kaldas Center is 6 miles away from the hospital so getting back and forth is very easy to do.

TKC is affiliated with Ascension – St. Elizabeth in Appleton and ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Appleton. Additional referrals can be sent to Green Bay if needed depending on acuity. See Healthcare System overview for more information.

Schedule

This position is extremely flexible. We have the ability to have a provider work part time (3 or 4 days per week) or we can accommodate full time at 5 days per week as well. The current schedule is typically a 3:1 clinic to OR ratio but this is flexible and can be created how you see fit.

A new provider can expect to start seeing 8-10 patients per day and quickly ramp up to 20-25 per day but you have the flexibility to go at your pace and be as busy as you desire.

You will have dedicated full days in the OR every week. The affiliated hospital allocates Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays to FULL OR days. No half days here to eliminate inefficiencies.

Surgical Component

Dr. Kaldas performs almost 400 procedures per year. He also does a fair amount of Gyn-Onc with general surgeons and refers to Green Bay if necessary. He performs up to 4 surgeries in a day, working 7am-5pm, and a new provider can easily get up to 12-16 surgeries a month, if so desired. The bulk of surgeries are general, or endometriosis related. There are plenty of additional cases for hysterectomies, Uro Gyn, -etc.

The hospital, which is 147 Bed and just down the street, has 4 DaVinci Xi Robots with zero issues getting access, so scheduling time every week will be easy. In the OR you will have a surgical tech, a 1st assist and MA’s to assist with procedures. The hospital is fully equipped with all imaging equipment including CT, MRI, PET, Ultrasound and more.

Call

Call is 1:3 for emergent GYN ONLY. It sounds scary, but it’s not at all. You will be on for 1 week at a time and it is not onerous. The average number of calls you will receive for the entire week is 1. A busy week for Dr. Kaldas is 3 calls. It rarely interrupts your quality of life.
