The patient population includes a diverse demographic, primarily adults requiring specialized cardiac care. The cardiac surgery team handles over 350 heart cases annually, including 20 laser lead extractions and 149 TAVR procedures. The case mix ranges from routine to complex cardiac surgeries, with opportunities to engage in thoracic cases as well.
The call schedule is structured with 10 calls per month. UCHealth utilizes EPIC to ensure seamless patient care and coordination among various departments. At Parkview when a doctor is on vacation, locums will help cover. Memorial Hospital will have the other two surgeons cover vacation.
The cardiac surgery team is supported by six cardiac anesthesiologists and a dedicated cardiac OR team. Both locations have opportunities for specialization in TAVR and other advanced cardiac procedures, supported by state-of-the-art facilities, including a dedicated cardiac OR and two hybrid ORs.
While the primary focus is clinical care, there are opportunities to engage in teaching and research, particularly in collaboration with cardiology fellows and other medical staff.
The cardiac surgery team includes five dedicated APPs supporting the OR, ICU, and clinics, with an additional nocturnist NP in the CVICU.
