Physician Recruitment Process and Compensation Overview

This position offers a stable, faculty-based compensation structure suited to an academic primary care role. Rather than tying pay to production volume, the model provides a perpetual base salary with additional incentives and a strong benefits package through the University of Rochester.

Compensation Structure

Compensation is structured as an academic faculty appointment. The base salary is perpetual: it does not expire and is not dependent on a provider's historical or ongoing production volume. Final salary is set by rank and experience and aligned with the university's internal academic compensation and promotion pathways.

Component Detail
Base salary Perpetual academic base, set by rank and experience
Quality incentive 10% of base salary, tied to quality, RVU and citizenship measures
Sign-on bonus $10,000, fully repayable if you leave before the commitment period
Student loan repayment $150,000, forgiven over 4 years

Malpractice Coverage

  • Occurrence-based coverage provided as faculty within the academic program
  • No tail coverage required, given the occurrence policy

Benefits

Physicians in this role receive the standard benefits available to University of Rochester employees. Because the medical center and the university operate under a single organizational structure, faculty receive the same benefits offered across the academic campus.

  • Health, dental, and vision coverage
  • Retirement plan
  • Paid time off
  • Continuing medical education support
  • Access to a dedicated employee pharmacy, offering prescription discounts, home delivery, and secure locker pickup for those on the university insurance plan

Additional Compensation

  • $10,000 sign-on bonus, fully repayable if you leave before the commitment period
  • $150,000 in student loan repayment, forgiven over 4 years
  • 5% of base salary quality and citizenship incentive
