Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned by the supervisor
- Serves as principal clinician, and general manager for the medical department.
- Establishes health care standards and protocols for each service in the Health Care Plan.
- Assures performance improvement of clinical programs, including Quality Management.
- Reports to the CEO and to the Governing Board on the Health Center’s clinical programs.
- Must be willing to serve as a supervisor or collaborating physician as assigned.
- Implements Federal initiatives related to patient care.
- Participates in budget development and in financial management decisions related to clinical activities.
- Reviews and revises formulary in congruence with medical protocols.
- Serves as supervisor of provider staff to include performance evaluation and disciplinary actions.
- Responsible for the privileging process of providers and review of the credentialing process.
- Submit reports on the Center’s clinical activities and explain or interpret the community health needs and other issues that may affect the Center’s clinical program.
- Responsible for the oversite of the Quality Management and patient review committees.
- Participates in WHSI inter-disciplinary team-based care.
Clinical Management Functions:
- Manages the patient care process.
- Assigns specific responsibilities and duties to members of the clinical staff.
- Supervises, either directly or indirectly through subordinates, members of the clinical staff.
- Consults with members of the professional health care staff on clinical issues.
- Provides the appropriate continuing education and in-service training for all members of the professional healthcare staff.
- Orients professional staff to primary care.
- Monitors productivity and goal achievement of provider staff.
- Arranges and conducts regular meetings of provider staff.
- Visits each site to provide consultant and counseling services relating to clinical programs.
