Understanding the Role

This Chief Medical Officer position reports directly to the CMO for Whatley Health. As the CMO you’ll be in direct control of the 10 healthcare clinics throughout the Tuscaloosa area. Currently there are 5 physicians and 12 midlevel providers on staff. This leadership position will have 1 day of clinical duties seeing patients in an outpatient only setting. You’ll additionally have 4 days blocked for administrative duties and other professional development items.

Summary:
Directs all preventive, diagnostic, treatment and referral care rendered by health care providers working under the auspices of the corporation. Responsible for the maintenance of the Quality Management program and other standards of certifications including OSHA.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervises Director of Pediatrics, Dental Director, Physicians and Mid-Level Providers of the organization.

Qualifications – Education, Training, Experience and other Requirements:

Medical degree from an accredited medical school.
Must have completed residency and be board certified.
Must have license to practice in the State of Alabama.
Must be able to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
Must possess good interpersonal skills to promote teamwork.
Must view the administrative role as important as clinical; at least three years of medical administration experience is preferred.
Must be zealous about prevention.
Must obtain hospital privileges.
