Your clinical days will center on comprehensive primary care across the full spectrum of family medicine. You will see patients of all ages, from well-child visits and adolescent care through adult preventive medicine and geriatric management. The patient population reflects Greene County's demographic mix: established families who have lived in the area for generations, young professionals relocating from Dayton's urban core, military families connected to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, and retirees drawn to the area's lower cost of living and quality of life. This diversity creates clinical variety that keeps each day engaging while allowing you to develop deep, longitudinal relationships with patients and their families.
With 16 to 20 patient encounters per day, you will have time for thorough histories, physical examinations, and meaningful conversations about health goals and concerns. This volume stands in contrast to the 25 to 30 daily visits common in many metropolitan practices, giving you the breathing room to practice medicine the way you envisioned during training. Your schedule runs from 7:00am to 5:30pm Monday through Friday, with the flexibility to work a four-day week, allowing you to design a practice rhythm that supports both professional excellence and personal well-being.
The practice supports a range of in-office procedures that allow you to provide comprehensive care without unnecessary referrals. Current procedural offerings include point-of-care testing, minor skin procedures such as biopsies and lesion removals, vaccinations, and well-woman examinations. The practice leadership has expressed openness to expanding procedural capabilities based on your interests and training. If you have additional procedural skills, whether joint injections, dermoscopy, or other office-based procedures, there is flexibility to incorporate these into your practice.
Call responsibilities have been structured to minimize disruption to your personal life while ensuring patient access. You will participate in a 1:5 call rotation with other Kettering Health primary care providers in the community, taking phone call for one week at a time. The rotation runs from Monday evening to the following Monday morning, meaning you will typically cover call approximately 10 weeks per year. Leadership describes the call volume as "very, very light", reflecting the outpatient nature of the practice and the availability of Kettering Health's emergency and urgent care resources for acute needs.
Kettering Health utilizes Epic as its electronic medical record system across all facilities, providing seamless access to patient records, specialist notes, imaging results, and laboratory data throughout the network. Epic's integrated platform means you can easily coordinate care with the specialists at Greene Memorial Hospital and across Kettering Health's 14 medical centers, with real-time visibility into patient encounters regardless of where they occur within the system.
When fully staffed, each provider has their own dedicated medical assistant to support rooming patients, documenting vitals, preparing for procedures, and managing in-basket tasks. The clinic is currently recruiting a new MA following the departure of the previous physician, and this position will be filled to ensure you have consistent support from your first day.
Your location in the Physician Office Building adjacent to Greene Memorial Hospital provides immediate access to ancillary services that support efficient, comprehensive patient care. When patients need diagnostic workup, imaging, or specialty consultation, these resources are steps away rather than requiring referrals to distant facilities.
This clinical environment balances autonomy with support. You will practice independently, making your own clinical decisions and building your own patient relationships, while having the backing of a large health system's resources, specialty network, and infrastructure. The manageable patient volume, light call schedule, and on-site ancillary services create conditions where you can focus on what matters most: delivering excellent care to your patients.
