Recent Investment in Xenia

Kettering Health has announced a $35 million investment in healthcare facilities in Xenia, demonstrating long-term commitment to this growing community. More than $10 million will be invested in modernizing and renovating Greene Memorial, updating the facility to meet contemporary standards while preserving its role as the community's hospital. An additional $26 million will fund construction of a new 24,000-square-foot outpatient health center on Progress Drive, which will offer primary care, on-demand walk-in care, laboratory services, and imaging.

This investment follows a period of uncertainty about the hospital's future and represents a renewed commitment from Kettering Health leadership. Ron Connovich, president of Kettering Health Medical Group, has stated that the organization remains committed to addressing the local shortage of primary care and specialist physicians in Xenia. As a physician joining during this investment phase, you will practice in an environment of growth and improvement rather than contraction.

Kettering Health Network

Kettering Health is a faith-based, non-profit health system serving southwestern Ohio. The network includes 14 medical centers, over 120 outpatient facilities, more than 1,800 physicians, and approximately 15,000 employees. The system traces its origins to 1964 when Charles F. Kettering Memorial Hospital opened on the 90-acre Kettering estate, built through the vision of Eugene and Virginia Kettering as a living memorial to inventor Charles F. Kettering. The Ketterings enlisted the Seventh-day Adventist Church to build and operate the hospital, establishing the faith-based healthcare philosophy that continues today.

The health system's mission is to live God's love by promoting and restoring health. This mission translates into a care philosophy that treats each patient as a whole person, addressing physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. The values of belonging, wholeness, excellence, leadership, and learning guide decision-making throughout the organization. For physicians, this creates a supportive environment where patient care takes priority over volume metrics and where the organization invests in physician well-being alongside patient outcomes.

Kettering College

Kettering Health operates Kettering College, a health sciences college that opened in 1967 adjacent to the original hospital. The college offers degrees in nursing, radiologic technology, respiratory care, sonography, and other health science fields. This educational mission creates a culture of learning throughout the health system and provides a pipeline of well-trained clinical staff. For physicians interested in teaching, the presence of health professions students creates opportunities for clinical education and mentorship.

The Competitive Landscape

Kettering Health operates alongside Premier Health in the Dayton region. Premier Health includes Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Atrium Medical Center in Middletown, and Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy, employing approximately 14,000 workers as the second-largest employer in the Dayton region. Kettering Health has distinguished itself through its faith-based approach, quality outcomes, and strategic expansion into growing communities like Xenia where patients are seeking alternatives to traditional hospital systems.

Joining Kettering Health means becoming part of a health system with deep roots in southwestern Ohio, a clear mission, and demonstrated commitment to investing in the communities it serves. The $35 million investment in Xenia signals that this is a market where Kettering Health sees growth and opportunity, and where physicians can build lasting careers serving patients who genuinely need and appreciate their care.
