Understanding the Role

The role is for a cardiologist at AdventHealth in Hendersonville, NC, focusing on non-invasive cardiology. The position involves providing comprehensive cardiac care, including diagnostics and management of cardiovascular diseases.

Practice Setting:
The position is based in a hospital setting within AdventHealth’s cardiology department, known for its collaborative environment and strong support systems.

Cardiovascular Services Offered
Diagnostic Stress Testing (Inpatient and Outpatient)
AdventHealth Hendersonville, offers a wide variety of diagnostic tests. These tests are extremely valuable in determining the health of the patient's heart. They include: 

  • Basic exercise stress test
  • Transthoracic echocardiogram (includes Transthoracic Echo, Color Flow Study, and Cardiac Doppler)
  • Stress echocardiogram
  • Dobutamine stress echocardiogram
  • Nuclear stress cardiolite
  • Pharmacological nuclear stress cardiolite (including Lexiscan and Dobutamine)
  • 24 / 48 Holter, Zio, and 30-day cardiac rhythm event monitors 

A staff of physiologists, advanced cardiac life support nurses, certified respiratory therapists, registered dietitians and behavioral health professionals work together to provide telemetry-monitored exercise, daily education sessions, dietary counseling, consultations with psychologists and cholesterol monitoring. 

These services are available Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for one hour and require a physician's referral. 

Additional Services for Heart Health 
Our goal in the cardiology department is to promote healthy hearts through comprehensive services and education. That's why we also offer the following: 
Exercise and education classes. Exercise classes for risk factor modification are offered Monday, Wednesday and Friday. They are monitored by a certified fitness instructor. Classes include cardiovascular and strength training, with blood glucose, blood pressure and heart rate checked daily. In addition, we offer smoking cessation classes and a variety of other educational opportunities for those looking to make healthier lifestyle choices. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Medical degree (MD or DO)
  • Board certification in Cardiology
  • Valid medical license to practice in North Carolina 

Additional Certifications/Training Preferred/Required:

  • Advanced cardiac imaging (e.g., echocardiography, TEE, cardiac MRI)
  • Pacemaker implantation and management, Nuclear Medicine 

Supervisory or Administrative Responsibilities:

The cardiologist will have opportunities for leadership roles, including directorship of specific programs or initiatives within the cardiology department.

Expected Work Schedule:

Full-time, with responsibilities including regular patient consultations, diagnostic testing, and participation in on-call rotations.

New Position or Replacement:

This position is part of the expansion and growth of the cardiology department at AdventHealth, driven by increasing patient demand.

Reporting Structure/Leadership:

The cardiologist will report to the Chief of Cardiology and work closely with other department heads and the hospital administration.
