Position Overview

Understanding the Role

A Physician-Led Program Built for Comprehensive Cancer Care

As a Hematologist/Medical Oncologist at Cancer Centers of Southwest Oklahoma, you will join a well-established, physician-led cancer program that was deliberately designed to bring high-quality, comprehensive cancer care to a regional population that would otherwise travel hours for treatment. This is full-spectrum community oncology in the truest sense: you will manage a diverse mix of hematologic and solid tumor malignancies, build lasting relationships with patients who genuinely appreciate local access to specialty care, and practice within a structure that prioritizes clinical quality over volume-driven metrics. The program is actively recruiting to support growth and long-term succession planning, with a target of six physicians across the system.

Serving a Regional Population Across Southwest Oklahoma

Cancer Centers of Southwest Oklahoma serves a broad geographic footprint spanning multiple counties across the southwestern quadrant of the state. Many patients in this region previously faced three-hour round trips to Oklahoma City or even longer drives to Dallas for oncology care. Your presence here means families can receive chemotherapy, follow-up visits, and supportive care close to home, preserving their energy for healing rather than travel. The patient population reflects the diversity of the region: military families and veterans connected to Fort Sill, multigenerational rural families, and an international community that makes Southwest Oklahoma more diverse than many expect.

  • Multi-site network with locations in Lawton (flagship), Duncan, Altus, and Chickasha
  • Incorporated in 2004; Lawton comprehensive cancer center opened approximately 2010
  • Ownership shared among Memorial Health System of Southwest Oklahoma (~48%), Duncan Regional Hospital, and Jackson County Memorial Hospital (Altus)
  • Operates as an independent cancer center functioning as a hospital service line
  • Consistent services, technology, and clinical standards across all locations

A Practice Structure Designed for Longevity

Your schedule balances productivity with sustainability. Outreach clinics rotate on a predictable schedule, typically one to two days per week, allowing you to serve patients at satellite locations while maintaining your primary practice base in Lawton. There is no inpatient rounding; hospitalists manage admissions, and oncology consults are limited. This structure exists by design, not accident. Leadership built the program to support physician wellness and long-term retention, recognizing that burned-out oncologists cannot provide the sustained, compassionate care their patients deserve.

  • Full-time position practicing comprehensive hematology and medical oncology
  • Board certification or eligibility in Hematology/Medical Oncology required
  • Reports to Dr. Manal Robin-Hanna, Medical Director of Medical Oncology
  • New position supporting program growth and succession planning
  • Strong mentorship available for new graduates; experienced physicians equally welcomed

You will practice in an environment where leadership understands that physician satisfaction directly correlates with patient outcomes, and where the infrastructure exists to let you focus on what you trained to do: take care of patients.
