Position Overview

Play a Vital Role in a Collaborative Hospitalist Team

Join a patient-centered hospitalist program where Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) are highly valued for their clinical expertise and teamwork. As a Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA), you will work in a well-supported inpatient setting, managing your own patient panel while collaborating closely with physicians and a multidisciplinary care team.

This role offers a structured 7-on/7-off schedule with manageable patient volumes and no overnight call, thanks to telemedicine coverage. Located in Cody, WY, this Critical Access Hospital provides an opportunity to practice full-spectrum inpatient medicine while enjoying the quality of life that comes with living near Yellowstone National Park.

Your Role in the Team
• Manage a daily patient load of ~12 patients with 1-3 admissions per day.
• Work independently within a collaborative hospitalist model, rounding on your own patients.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds at 10 AM, ensuring coordinated patient care.
• No overnight call – a telemedicine service handles nighttime coverage.
• Flexible scheduling: Standard 7-on/7-off rotation, but APPs can adjust their schedules.

Practice Setting & Community Need
• Well-established hospitalist program that transitioned back to hospital-employed model in 2023.
• Strong demand for a permanent daytime APP after a team member relocated.
• Supportive, close-knit hospital culture where APPs are integral to inpatient care.

Qualifications & Experience
• NP or PA degree from an accredited program.
• Board certification as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA).
• Hospitalist or acute care experience preferred; new grads with strong inpatient training considered.
• Comfortable managing a broad range of medical conditions with limited specialist support on-site.

Supportive Work Environment
• Physician collaboration: Hospitalists and APPs share office space, ensuring real-time support.
• Procedures are not required – lines, intubations, and advanced interventions are handled by physicians or transferred as needed.
• Referral network in Billings, MT (90 miles away) for cases requiring specialty care.
• Community-oriented hospital with a strong reputation for patient-centered care.

Why Join This Team?
• Structured, manageable workload with no overnight shifts.
• Autonomy within a team-based model, allowing for professional growth.
• Work-life balance with a flexible schedule and outdoor recreation nearby.
• Join a respected hospitalist program in a scenic, welcoming community.
