Position Overview

Understanding the Role

Launching Rheumatology at Good Shepherd Health

You will be stepping into a unique and impactful role as the first rheumatologist in Hermiston, Oregon, establishing a brand-new service line for Good Shepherd Health. With no existing rheumatologist in town, you will immediately inherit a strong referral base and an eager patient population currently traveling to the Tri-Cities or Hood River for care. This creates the rare opportunity to launch a high-demand specialty with ready-made volume from day one, while also shaping the future of rheumatology care for an entire region.

Your practice will be fully hospital-employed, providing stability and seamless integration into a well-supported community-owned health system. You’ll enjoy the autonomy to set your own schedule within a 4-day workweek, ensuring a balanced lifestyle alongside your professional growth. As you build your practice, you’ll have the chance to expand into leadership opportunities, guiding the growth of this new service line while collaborating with specialists across orthopedics, neurology, dermatology, podiatry, and PM&R.

This is more than just a job — it’s the chance to bring advanced rheumatology care to an underserved community and make a lasting difference in the health and quality of life of patients across northeastern Oregon.
