Staff

The IR program at UK Kings Daughters is staffed by two active interventional radiologists who together average 10 to 15 cases per day. The team operates with a collaborative culture and takes an active interest in proctoring new colleagues, particularly on stroke intervention cases. The incoming physician will be the third member of the group, improving the call rotation from 1:2 to 1:3.

APP and Clinical Support Staff

• 3 APPs supporting the IR service
• Minimum of 2 APPs on weekdays, 1 APP on weekends
• APPs facilitate consults 7 days per week
• APPs manage inpatient follow-ups with physician co-signature
• Dedicated IR nursing staff
• 4 advanced-certified radiology technologists on the call team

Practice Culture

The IR team is described as highly collaborative and maintains close working relationships with cardiology, vascular surgery, cardiothoracic surgery, and neurosurgery. Team members are experienced in proctoring and express genuine interest in training colleagues on stroke intervention and EVT, recognizing that this skill set is increasingly rare among newer trainees. Physician leadership opportunities within the health system are available to interested providers.
