There will be more outpatient procedures than a standard primary care clinic but nothing complex or out of primary care scope. Seeing as it is a little bit of a drive to get over to the Nogales location a lot of patients like to stay in Patagonia and receive care at this location. There will be plenty of common outpatient procedures such as lacerations, toenail, and skin tag removals and skin biopsies.
This is an opportunity to provide full scope primary care in a smaller, more rural yet exciting community and have the ability to see and treat more than the average primary care physician. They do not have any subspecialties that work full-time at this location; however, a fantastic general surgeon comes in on Wednesday afternoon to help with procedures and can offer more expertise in certain areas when need be.
The referral process is very simple and a few times a month they do have specialties such as nephrology, cardiology, ENT, orthopedics and more in Nogales at their main site.
The incoming provider will have a decent amount of flexibility when making their schedule. They will have the option of a normal 5-day work week to an abbreviated or even part time schedule. Mariposa is willing to work with them to see what they would be able to provide.
A full-time provider will Ideally work a 4-day work week of 10-hour days, or 4.5 days, 8 hours days with a half day of admin work. A normal day in the clinic would be from 8am-5pm seeing approximately 20-22 patients per day. They will be the main provider in Patagonia so there will be plenty of autonomy when making the schedule and planning out their weeks.
There will be a call group of 1:6 days/weekends, realistically 1 day per week. This will be all by phone and the providers usually get around 0-2 calls per night and very rarely after 10pm. They have a nurse triage who take the first call and filter out about 95% of calls.
The weekend call be every 6th weekend, realistically once every other month. This will be from 7am on Friday to 7am the following Monday, and during that weekend they will provide clinic services at the main location in Nogales from 9am-1pm. However, the Monday following the call weekend will only be a half day to offset that Saturday morning clinic time.
