Understanding the Role
The Ridge Ohio is hiring a Board-Certified Addiction Physician to serve as the dedicated full-time Medical Director of its 32-bed residential addiction treatment program in Milford, Ohio, with additional outpatient clinics in Milford and Westerville.
The program specializes in treating licensed professionals, including physicians, nurses, other healthcare providers, and executives. You will lead clinical care, supervise the medical team, and contribute to program development and continued organizational growth.
Practice Snapshot
Setting: 32-bed residential program with detox, plus two outpatient clinics
Patient Focus: Licensed professionals (physicians, nurses, healthcare providers, executives)
Practice Mix: 80% clinical, 20% administrative leadership
Schedule: Monday through Friday, approximately 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Call: Monday- Friday, one week on, one week off, phone only
EMR: Kipu
Required Qualifications
- Board Certified in Addiction Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology Or Addiction Medicine by the American Board of Preventative Medicine
- Active or eligible Ohio medical license
- Comfort treating higher-acuity patients with co-occurring psychiatric and substance use disorders
- Confidence making diagnostic decisions during 72-hour evaluations and professional assessments
Preferred Background
- Direct experience working with addiction populations
- Familiarity with Physician Health Programs and professional licensure pathways
- Track record as both an evaluator and an educator
- Strong communication skills for outreach, networking, and program representation
Position Responsibilities
The Medical Director is the clinical and strategic leader of the program. Responsibilities are split across patient care and program leadership.
Clinical
- Diagnose and treat patients with substance use disorders and co-occurring psychiatric conditions
- Conduct initial evaluations and admission assessments
- Manage medication-assisted treatment, including Suboxone, Vivitrol, Naltrexone, Subutex, and Campral
- Lead weekly multidisciplinary treatment team meetings
- Provide clinical oversight for the nurse practitioner and nursing staff
- Collaborate with the contract psychiatrist and psychiatric nurse practitioners on co-occurring mental health treatment
Leadership and Strategic
- Participate in program development and growth initiatives
- Represent The Ridge at conferences, referral meetings, and Physician Health Program events
- Support outreach and relationship building across the recovery and healthcare community
- Contribute to clinical protocol development and program improvements
