Casper Mountain

At a top elevation of 8130 feet, the mountain rises approximately 3000 feet above Casper. There are many recreation opportunities on the mountain. Casper Mountain has one of very few ski areas with a parking/entry point located above the resort. It is known as Hogadon Ski Area. Although small, the ski area provides the largest source of winter entertainment on the mountain. Other activities include cross country skiing and snowmobiling.  A cross country ski area cuts right through an area known as Tower Hill.  Some of the ski trails are lit providing night skiing.

North Platte River
Wyoming's North Platte River is one of the best trout rivers in the United States, with an average of 5,000-plus fish per fishable miles of water. These waters provide a fly-fishing experience that is second to none.  The North Platte River is a diverse and prolific river that produces not only large quantities of trout, but also large trout. The largest trout caught weighed and measured came from the Gray Reef section- a brown that weighed a whopping 22 lbs. Rainbows are commonly caught in the five pound to double digit range, but most fish average 16 to 20 inches.

This is also the home of the world-famous Miracle Mile, located between Seminoe and Pathfinder reservoirs. This area is a truly a magnificent fishery that offers the angler great opportunity for very large trophy trout. This section of river is fishable throughout the year with certain months offering more opportunity than others. If you have not yet had a chance to experience the Platte River, it should be placed on your to-do list while it is still not spoiled. In recent years, people who visit and fish the Platte River rank it as the number one tail water in the lower 48 states.

Casper will further amaze you with the wide assortment of recreational options in performing arts.  For a city of this size, residents of Casper consider themselves fortunate to have at least 4 live theatres, an art museum, and The Wyoming Symphony.
