At St. Joseph's Medical Center and Touro University Medical Group, you'll be joining a collaborative and growing team of psychiatry professionals dedicated to education, patient care, and the development of future leaders in mental health. The existing staff is anchored by experienced clinicians who practice across outpatient and consult liaison settings, as well as new faculty recruited specifically to lead the residency program.
You’ll work alongside Dr. Vijaya Ekambaram, MD, MPH, the Program Director, who brings over nine years of experience and subspecialty training in child & adolescent psychiatry, sleep medicine, and obesity medicine. Her academic background includes fellowships at Harvard and George Washington University, and she is already embedded in the community, helping build a strong foundation for the residency’s success.

You’ll be supported by a larger faculty network that includes over 20 academic, clinical, and volunteer psychiatry faculty across the consortium, many with deep expertise in forensic psychiatry, addiction, geriatrics, and consult liaison roles. This team approach creates a collegial learning environment where mentorship is prioritized, and faculty share a deep commitment to developing well-rounded residents.
