Clinically, this position is Monday through Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm with no nights or weekends! This is a 100% Occupational Medicine position, where Urgent Care services are separate, and they handle overflow patients on nights and weekends.
Again, this is a 100% Occupational Medicine opportunity that gives you a great quality of life with no call, no nights, no weekends and observed holidays. You are not seeing any Medicare or Medicaid patients, only private and commercial payors. 50% of patients are work-related injuries and 50% are employer directed services. If anyone shows up with trauma, they are directed to the ER. They only see ages 18+. Most patients are scheduled with some walk-ins, if you have the capacity. Physicals are 60 minutes, DOT exams are longer, and patient follow ups are typically 30 minutes.
There are 20 exam rooms across the two clinics. They just renovated Cathedral City and are in the process of updating La Quinta. Dr. Christiansen also noted that they have a lot of support from leadership and have always gotten equipment and supplies that they’ve asked for.
EMR: They are currently using SYSTOC but are moving to Epic, with the rest of the hospital. They do still have the ability to view Epic charts. You also have the ability to dictate, if desired.
In addition to healthcare and hotels/hospitality, there is a big presence in construction, solar turbine, manufacturing, agriculture, and chip manufacturing.
Desert Regional, JFK hospital, Desert Oasis, Kaiser, all school districts, TSA, and border patrol all go to Eisenhower. Eisenhower has 270+ employed physicians that would also do to you for physicals or employer directed services.
For support, they have PA’s, LVN’s and MA’s, along with full office staff. They do lab draws onsite, hearing, EKG testing, and Pulmonary visual testing. They also have an account manager to assist with marketing, but Dr. Christiansen says you can be busy from Day 1.
If you’re interested in the Medical Director role, you’d have .7-.8 FTE (full-time equivalent) of clinical and .2-.3 FTE administrative time. You’d be managing a standard form of protocol, managing the schedule, promoting health in the workplace, and teaching residents from time to time. You will also be working closely with the two referral coordinators, Tammy and Estella.
